Hitting Free Agency Hard
The Miami Dolphins have positioned themselves to be financially stable during the free agent period, its expected that they will hit it hard looking for free agent help.
There have been reports that Miami Should have around $30 Million in cap space to deal with their own free agents and will have the ability to sign more players. If the dolphins can restructure some contracts the cap space could be higher, The Dolphins will face a tough decision in keeping Paul Soliai or Randy Starks. In my opinion if the dolphins have to choose between the two of them I would resign Paul Soliai and allow Starks to walk, but if anything can be done to keep both the Dolphins should explore that option.
My personal desire would be for the Dolphins to resign Brent Grimes who deserves a contract, then apply the franchise tag on Soliai and try to resign Randy Starks to a deal. The positive about the Starks, Soliai situation is that the defensive line has depth where players can just rotate in and out.
In the end there is no easy way to say it, but Dennis Hickey will have his hands full and there is plenty of work to do before even getting to the draft. Nine of the Miami Dolphins 18 free agents were starters in 2013.
